Osteoporosis

Learn ways to lift, push, pull, rest, work and how to protect your body from injury. Pain from this condition can also be treated.

Therapy services include:

  • Evaluations
  • One-on-one Therapy for Treatment of Pain
  • Group Exercise and Education Classes

Education topics include nutrition and calcium intake, diagnostic tests, medications, hormone therapy, life-style changes, risk factors, home safety, safe body movements, and preventing falls. Exercise classes are supervised by a therapist and emphasize building upper body, improving balance, strength and flexibility in specific muscle groups. Postural exercises are also emphasized.

Therapy for the Childbearing Years (Prenatal and Postpartum)

Some of the aches and pains you have during and after pregnancy may be helped by therapy. Upper and lower back pain, which can be sharp, "catchy", or deep, dull buttock pain may be caused by hormonal and/or postural changes during pregnancy.

Therapy services include:

  • Education: Self-help Ideas, Comfort Measures
  • Soft Tissue Stretching and Massage for Muscle Pain and Spasm
  • "Quieting" Tense Muscles
  • Exercises for Your Specific Problem
  • OB Back School
  • Braces or Support Garments if Necessary

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

This "tingling" and/or painful sensation in the wrist and fingers may occur from increased body fluid and/or incorrect movements of the wrists.

Therapy services include:

  • Education: self-help- ideas, comfort measures, changing the way you work and rest to decrease strain on your wrist.
  • Specific exercises to relieve pressure in the wrist and improve circulation.
  • Stretching and friction massage over the wrist.
  • Braces and/or-splints if needed.

Postpartum Discomforts

Therapists can provide treatment, education and exercise to help with pain for the stitches, pain with Intercourse, weak tummy and vaginal muscles.

Therapy services include:

  • Education: OB Back School, Kegels class, self-help ideas, comfort measures.
  • Scar massage: done by the therapist and taught to patient.
  • Ultrasound to soften scars.
  • Specific exercise for your complaint and correct exercises for vaginal and tummy muscles.

You may attend OB Back School or Kegels class without a physician's referral. However, physician referral is required for individual therapy services and is reimbursed by most insurance.
